Elta-MD this is my favorite sunscreen for my face. It is a barrier type sunscreen which works by reflecting UV rays (you can read more about the different kinds of sunscreen here).

Elta-MD is oil free, goes on smooth, and dries quickly. It has a bit of a white sheen when first applied but dries clear even on dark skin tones, which is not always the case with other barrier type sunscreens. Most importantly it lasts all day without the need to reapply. It washes off easily and perhaps most importantly does not clog pores.

The packaging is simple and elegant. The bottle looks very smart and looks good in a medicine cabinet or even out on the vanity. To use you press down on the top to dispense the product which is properly proportioned to how much is needed for a face and neck. When the bottle becomes empty there is little residual product left. Nothing bothers me more than when the bottle is 1/4 full, and I cannot easily get the product out.

Because Elta-MD is oil free I will often use with a daily facial lotion at the same time which gives me better control over the moisture on my face.

The only negative that I have with the product is that it is more expensive than other sun screens available, but given how well it work without reapplication and how sheer and non existent it feels on my skin it is worth the price. A bottle also lasts me a while with daily use.

EltaMD has an entire skin care line as well but I have not had a chance to try their other products, yet… stay tuned.
